Certification of products used in fire alarm systems
Products to be used in automatic fire alarm and fire detection systems in the EU have to be certified. Typically this means certification for conformity with the relevant EN 54 series of standards.
Most of these standards are harmonised standards, meaning that the products have to be CE-marked according to the requirements of the European Construction Products Directive 89/106/EEC (CPD), enabling marketing and use of the products in all EU.
DBI - Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology issues EC certificates required to CE-mark the product according to the CPD.
Some of the EN 54 standards are non harmonised standards.
For products covered by these standards DBI can issue national certificates, thereby enabling use of the product on the Danish market.
