Fire Prevention in building and construction

Date 26-07-2010
A basic performance requirement for building projects is that buildings must provide a satisfactory level of safety, especially in the event of a fire. DBI - Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology  is highly experienced in assessing the overall fire safety of building projects. Furthermore, we provide consultancy for building projects in which only a single project component is subjected to an assessment of fire safety and prevention.

We apply our comprehensive fire technology knowledge to ensure that building projects live up to the intention of emergency preparedness and building laws and codes, while simultaneously taking architectural and functional preferences into account.

DBI Fire Consultancy
For renovation projects or the construction of new buildings incorporating unconventional, ‘daring’ architecture, it is not always possible to treat building projects according to the stipulations of current legislation. The same applies whenever a building project is to be planned in accordance with so-called performance-based fire requirements. In such cases,

DBI draws up a fire strategy containing proposals for alternate protection measures that ensure adherence to the overall, legally required level of fire safety and prevention.

DBI is thoroughly familiar with official wishes and requirements, due to previous projects and long-standing constructive cooperation in preparing instructions and guidelines. Thus by including DBI as a consultant and sparring partner in a building project,a high level of fire safety and protection is achieved, incorporating both the project design preferences of the client and those of the public authorities.
