FIRE DETECT


Project’s aim
The Fire Detect project aims at developing and test an innovative and reliable fire detection system based on a new and advanced laser-based technology. The system will be able to identify very small temperature rises at a very early stage of a fire, providing an early and reliable detection of fire. The measurement method is based on phase change of laser light, which makes the system suitable to dusty areas where current systems show limited performance or are unable to operate.

DBI’s part in the project

  1. Project management
  2. Development work needed to make the fire detection reliable and error-free both in controlled and in realistic environments, including developing models for fire and heat propagation.
  3. Research, define and carry out the tests necessary to complete certification and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Duration and financing
This is a EUR 1,5 million project financed under the EUROSTARS framework by the European Commission, the Danish Innovation Fund and the Research Council of Norway. It runs from the December 2014 to November 2017.
