Product certification and verification

A product certificate is proof that a product meets the specified requirements of a standard. Product certification can also be the basis for specific product labelling.

If you must have a product certificate, it must be issued by a certification body accredited to certify your product. A company being accredited means that it is independent and professionally competent in the product area.

DBI is accredited to issue certificates for products, systems and system components for fire and security.

DBI issues certificates in the following product areas:

• Automatic fire protection systems
• Automatic interlocking systems
• Equipment for ships
• Flooring
• Gas material
• Product monitoring.

• Automatic fire alarm (AFA)
• Automatic total flooding extinguishing systems (ARS)
• Control and delay devices
• Automatic fire door closing system (AFDC)
• Fixed fire fighting systems

Product Certificates
In Denmark, it is a requirement that both the detection element and the control and time-delay equipment are system certified; even if the control and time-delay equipment is CPD certified. In order to obtain a system certificate for the automatic total flooding extinguishing system, a test report must be prepared. This must document an acceptable functionally-balanced interaction between the detection, control and time-delay equipment and the other system components.
