Modelling of temperature distribution in building components compared with results from resistance to fire testing

On the 27th of January 2009 DBI - Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology gave a presentation on modelling of temperature distribution in building components compared with results from resistance to fire testing on the 11th international Fire and Materials conference from the 26th to 28th of January 2009 in San Francisco, USA.

The presentation is a further development of DBI's project InterEX which is a model for calculating the surface temperature on products in which an internal combustion happens. In the presentation a comparison between the meassurements and the fire simulation software Argos® developed by DBI and it gives resonable agreement.

The presentation is an introduction to the mathematical model developed by DBI as well as a comparison betwen results from calculation with results from DBI's model owen for testing building components.

The presentation is made together with Ulf Göransson from Fire Safety Design AB in Sweden and Bjarne Paulsen Husted from Stord Haugesund University in Norway.

Video from the calculation of a heat front's movement through the material, can be seen here.
