Fire-testing of furniture

The fire resistance of furniture is extremely important in terms of the risk of fire and the development of a potential fire. Many fires are caused by dropped cigarettes, while lamps and candles which inadvertently end up in a bed or sofa can also easily start a fatal fire. In addition, upholstered furniture often provides fuel for violent house fires which start in other ways. Therefore, furniture for use on board ships and in rooms designed to hold more than 150 people must comply with different fire regulations.
